Spencer directed the Instrumental Workshop that lasted for two weeks and concluded with lectures, performances, and demonstrations by students who completed the program. Appalachian Elementary School, otherwise known as the Demonstration Elementary School, was a joint venture between Appalachian State and Watauga County Schools where Watauga County elementary school students would be taught by Appalachian State teachers and students. Pritchett, circa 1980 Description An account of the resource This image shows John Alfred Pritchett, associate professor in the Department of Educational Media in the College of Learning and Human Development at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the early 1980s. Pritchett began working at Appalachian State in 1955, where he organized the Department of Audio-Visual Education, later the Department of Library Science. He served as the first director of the Audio-Visual Center, and was first official University Photographer. He retired in 1991.
